 Meat Processing
Flake ice is used primarily during the production of various types of sausage and lunchmeats. It is added during the mixing process to absorb the heat of friction generated during blending, as well as to provide moisture, which adds to the quality of the product. North Star flake ice is ideal for this industry because it mixes smoothly and melts quickly to provide very rapid cooling. Also, its thin shape will not damage blending and mixing equipment.
North Star flake ice has also been used to top ice hams after cooking to cool them before storage.
North Star ice makers with stainless steel options are USDA accepted for the meat processing industry.
